If you have lost a tooth, you absolutely need to find a restorative dental treatment to help you reclaim your smile. Our Orland Park dentist office is here to help all types of patients—even those suffering from severe dental deterioration—achieve oral health.

Let’s learn more about one treatment option that is revolutionizing modern dentistry—the mini dental implant.

Mini dental implants follow the same treatment philosophy as conventional dental implants. These replacement teeth all have individual roots made of titanium that ground the restoration in the jawbone tissue. Mini dental implants, however, are smaller than traditional dental implants (specifically, the titanium root is thinner and thus less traumatizing for the jawbone tissue when it is inserted).

Mini dental implants can be used in a number of ways to help patients achieve oral health:

1. You might have a mini dental implant inserted in order to replace a single tooth. This mini implant would have a titanium root, capped with an abutment, and then finally topped with a customized dental crown. Your final mini dental implant would function like a regular tooth.

2. Alternatively, you could use a series of mini dental implants to anchor a denture in place. When you choose this option, our dentist will insert titanium implant roots into your bone and jaw tissue. Then, these roots will be secured to an existing prosthetic—a denture. Once the denture is attached to the implant roots, your replacement teeth will stay securely in place all of the time.

Some patients really prefer one of these treatments over the other, while other people combine these two treatment options for optimal results. Our Tinley Park dental implant dentists will further explain your options, and help you pick the perfect treatment for your smile, when you come in to our office and meet our dental team!
